Compassion Focused

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is a relatively new therapeutic approach that emphasizes the development of self-compassion and understanding of the self. It gives clients the opportunity to think more positively about themselves and become less critical of their perceived flaws. CFT has been found to be especially beneficial for those with a fear of self-criticism and for those who have difficulty expressing compassion to themselves. Through this therapy, clients can learn how to develop feelings of warmth, care and understanding towards themselves, ultimately leading to better emotional regulation as well as improved mental health. This therapy puts strong emphasis on deepening awareness and accepting uncomfortable emotions rather than fighting them. Ultimately, CFT offers individuals an opportunity to nourish self-compassion, leading to increased emotional stability and healthier relationships with others.
