Culturally Sensitive

Culturally sensitive therapists strive to provide therapy that is tailored specifically to their clients' needs. They recognize that different cultures have different approaches to life and further factor these differences into the therapeutic process. Not only do they take into account values, practices, and beliefs, but also include social and political histories as important contexts for understanding their clients. As such, culturally sensitive therapists are aware of how culture shapes personal experiences and are able to meet their clients where they are at by being able to effectively communicate in a language that respects and understands their diversity crisis.
