Positive Psychology

Positive psychology is a relatively new field of study that seeks to address the mental well-being of individuals through a focus on their strengths and attributes. Rather than being fixated solely on the causes and symptoms of mental disorders, positive psychology encourages people to cultivate traits such as optimism, hope, creativity, and an appreciation for justice in order to improve their everyday life experience. It does not replace traditional therapies which concentrate on problems being experienced, instead, it seeks to supplement existing treatments by bringing an extra level of balance with an emphasis on what works to foster constructive behavior.
