Psychodynamic therapy, also known as insight-oriented therapy, is an evolved form of Freudian psychoanalysis. This type of therapy dives into the unconscious and encourages the client to become more self-aware to promote the resolution of inner conflicts. Unlike its predecessor, psychodynamic therapy takes less time and effort as it focuses heavily on the relationship between therapist and patient, not just helping the patient explore their mind but providing a learning experience for how to interact with people in life outside the therapeutic setting. It can be extremely helpful in guiding individuals down a path of greater self-understanding.
